Helpful Definition for: Stereos

Stereos, in Sacramento or home audio refers to any audio electronics intended for home use. It is a sound system which typically includes a CD, tape, or recorder; has two or more speakers and produces stereo sound. Stereophonic sound is also commonly termed as stereo and refers to a type of sound reproduction in which an attempt is made to create an illusion of the sound coming from different directions. Stereophonic sound attempts to create an illusion of location for various sound sources like voices, instruments, etc. within the original recording. Stereo sound systems can be divided into two forms natural and artificial. The true or natural stereo sound is the one in which live sound is captured with a natural reverberation by suing a number of microphones. The signal is then reproduced over multiple loudspeakers to recreate the live sound. However, in the artificial stereo a single sound is reproduced over multiple loudspeakers. By combining multiple mono signals together a complete yet entirely artificial sound field can be created.

These days true stereo is mainly confined to recordings of live music, particularly classical music. Almost all pop records and movie soundtracks are of the "artificial" variety. In technical usage, true stereo means sound recording and sound reproduction that uses stereographic projection to encode the relative positions of objects and events recorded.

The Threat of Plastic on the Environment Evolves into “Microplastics”
Chris Boyle NEW YORK – As if the danger that discarded, non-biodegradable plastics pose to the environment aren’t enough, a new breed is making its presence felt; a dangerous evolution known as “Microplastics.” Microplastics are not a specific kind of plastic, but rather any type of plastic fragment that is less than five millimeters in length; they enter natural ecosystems from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to, cosmetics, clothing, and industrial processes. Some Microplastics enter the environment directly as a result of various sour...

Bioplastics – Not Good for the Environment After All?
Chris Boyle NEW YORK – According to recent reports, bioplastics would conceivably be as bad – if not worse – for the environment than conventional plastics, news that is taking a lot of green advocates completely by surprise. Bioplastics are plastics derived from renewable biomass sources, such as vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, straw, woodchips, food waste, etc. Bioplastic can be made from agricultural by-products and also from used plastic bottles and other containers using microorganisms. Common plastics, such as fossil-fuel plastics (also call...

Chinese Companies Operating in Zimbabwe Causing “Catastrophic” Environmental ...
Chris Boyle NEW YORK – According to leading environmentalist and human rights activist Farai Maguwu, Chinese companies that have set up shop in Zimbabwe – with some not even having the proper licenses to operate – have been engaging in practices that are wreaking “catastrophic” environmental damage upon the African country. Chinese companies, especially in the gold, diamond, and chrome mining industries, have been accused of engaging in numerous activities that are extremely detrimental to Zimbabwean eco-systems, including the dumping of toxic waste int...

New York State Passes Law Banning All Single-Use Plastic Bags in 2020
Chris Boyle NEW YORK, NY – Seen as a massive achievement in terms of safeguarding the environment, lawmakers in New York State have included a measure in their $175.5 billion budget plan announced on Sunday, March 31, that would effectively ban all single-use plastic bags in the state as of March 1, 2020. The bill passed on the Assembly 100 to 42, and Senate 39 to 22, according to reports. New York follows California and Hawaii as the third U.S. state to pass an all-encompassing single-use plastic bag ban thus far. New York’s law, as part of the “Transp...

The Single-Use Plastic Waste Crisis Facing the Planet – Is There a Solution?
Chris Boyle NEW YORK – One of the biggest problems currently facing the delicate ecosystem of our planet is the production and the use of single-use plastic.  The member nations of the UN environmental assembly has been pushing in recent years to phase out single-use plastic worldwide, and a recent agreement reached is going some way to eventually achieving that goal. By 2030, many UN member nations have agreed to “significantly reduce” the amount of single-use plastics they produce/dispose of via a variety of methods, including advances pertaining to w...
