Salvage yards, also called junkyards, are present in Salt Lake City. These are the places where old and decommissioned vehicles are brought in to be dismantled. Usable parts that can be recovered after dismantling can be sold for use in other vehicles, while the rest of the dismantled material (which is metal) is sold as scrap metal to recycling companies. The salvage yard could maintain a warehouse where usable parts and components are stocked. These are usually much cheaper than new auto parts. Installation services may or may not be provided.
