Located in the Los Angeles County of California, South Bay stretches along the southern shore of Santa Monica Bay. It is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean in the south and west, and the city of Los Angeles in the north and east.
South Bay contains as many as 15 cities along with portions of the city of Los Angeles and unincorporated portions of the County. It includes the beach cities (Manhattan, Hermosa, El Segundo, Torrance, Redondo), cities of Palos Verdes Peninsula (Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes), neighborhoods of LA city (Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, San Pedro, Wilmington), Inland cities (Inglewood, Hawthorne, Gardena, Lawndale, Lomita, Carson) and unincorporated areas of LA County like Lennox and Del Aire.
South Bay is one of those areas in the US that has an even distribution of population across White Americans, Blacks, Asians, Pacific Islanders, Europeans, Latinos and other races; however, the racial makeup varies widely across the region.
The Port of Los Angeles, the aerospace industry, refineries, automotive industry are the primary drivers of the Southern California economy, employing thousands and generating enormous amounts of revenue.
