Thomaston is a town in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is part of the Marengo County with an approximate total area of 2.0 square miles. The elevation is 187 feet above sea level. Thomaston Central Historic District embraces the central portion of the town. The three Thomaston properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places are Thomaston Colored Institute, C. S. Golden House, and Patrick Farrish House. Thomaston post office was established in 1892 using Zip code 36783. As of the census of 2010, the town total population was 417 with a population density of 194.24/sq mi. Estimated per capita income was $21,738.
