Auto registration is mandated by law. This service is available in city. Vehicle resgistration and driver licensing are both governed by a state-level government agency, usually called the department of motor vehicles (DMV). This department provides permanent identifying plates, or temporary registration for vehicles. The plate may have symbols or colors associated with the issuing jurisdiction. These symbols of registration are either called license plates or tags. Every state has its own system of issuing tags or license plates, and one has to apply for a fresh one if shifting from one state to another. Usually, the license plate has to displayed both in front of and the rear end of the vehicle. A temporary registration can be done by the auto dealer when a new car is bought. Registration materials may also be issued by a hird party company, who have been empowered to do so by the local DMV (or DMV equivalent, since the term isn't universal in use). These can be companies specializing in paperwork for the registration, or car dealers in Tucson. Ownership of a vehicle is established by issuing a vehicle title by DMV.
