Unalakleet is a city located in western part of Alaska, USA. It is within Nome Census Area nestled right next to the Bering Sea on the Norton Sound. Known for its aesthetic value, Unalakleet is also popular for its salmon and their various species and king crab too. Unalakleet derived its name from Iñupiaq word "Una-la-thliq" which means "from the southern side". The city is the first checkpoint on the Norton Sound in the famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
