Willow is a census-designated place located in the U.S. state of Alaska. It is within Matanuska-Susitna Borough which included in the Anchorage, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1897, the village was started when miners discovered gold on Willow Creek and once the Alaska's largest gold mining district. Willow is the current official host of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race restart. The total area is about 692.9 square miles at 61°46′10″N 149°59′28″W. It has an elevation of 213 feet.
