Wilmer is an unincorporated place in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is within Mobile County at 30°49′24″N 088°21′41″W. Wilmer is elevated by 249 feet above sea level. Around 1970, it became an incorporated place but was disincorporated again on September 30, 1993. A post office was established in 1894 with Zip code 36587. Wilmer took its name to the second bishop of Alabama in the Episcopal Church, Richard Hooker Wilmer. On 2014 census data, Wilmer had a total population of 11,077 individuals.
