Also known as the most southwesterly city in Continental USA, Imperial Beach is located in downtown San Diego County of California. It falls within the South Bay area covering almost 4.5 square miles and a population of 26, 324 people at the 2010 Census.
Needless to say a large part of the city is a long stretch of beach that employs a lifeguard staff all year round. It has some of the best surfing spots. Each year the summer brings a lot of tourists into the area. It hosts the largest open sandcastle competition in the US. The beach market is one of the most happening markets that sell local produce from the neighboring places – fruits, vegetables, and local art. The South Bay Drive in is the only ocean view drive-in theater in the County, located just outside the Imperial Beach.
The city is home a high number of military officials and members of US Navy.
