Honolulu is the capital and the most populous city of the U.S. state of Hawaii. It is also the southernmost major U.S. city. The CDP's population during the 2010 census was 377,357. Honolulu is a major financial center of the islands of the Pacific Ocean. It is historically significant as the site of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor near the city on December 7, 1941, and as the birthplace of Barack Obama, the 44th and current President of the United States.
